A Himalayan Dream,
Driven by Passion

HimRide was born in 2015 on the winding roads of McLeod Ganj, when our founder — a lifelong Dharamshala local — saw that travelers arriving at Gaggal Airport had no reliable, honest taxi option. Armed with one car, deep mountain road knowledge and an unwavering commitment to service, the first ride was taken.

Word spread fast. Backpackers, pilgrims, families and corporate groups kept coming back — not just for the rides, but for the stories, the local knowledge and the chai stops only a true local knows. By 2018 we had a fleet of 12 vehicles. By 2022, over 10,000 happy journeys.

Today, HimRide operates a fleet of hatchbacks, sedans, SUVs and Tempo Travellers covering all of Himachal Pradesh — but we've never forgotten our roots. Every driver on our team is a Dharamshala local, every route is one we know by heart, and every traveler is treated like a guest in our home.

One Car, One Dream
Rajesh Thakur launches HimRide with a single Innova and a WhatsApp number. First month: 12 bookings from travelers arriving at Gaggal Airport. Word of mouth spreads fast in McLeod Ganj.
2016
Spiti Begins
Suresh Kumar joins the team, bringing specialist knowledge of the Spiti Valley and Kinnaur routes. HimRide launches its first multi-day Himalayan circuit packages.
2018
Fleet of 12, First 5,000 Guests
The fleet grows to 12 vehicles including the first Tempo Travellers for group bookings. HimRide crosses 5,000 happy travelers and receives HP Tourism recognition as a registered service provider.
2020
Through the Pandemic
Despite travel restrictions, HimRide supports local communities by operating medical and essential supply runs across Kangra district. The team stays together — not a single driver laid off.
2022
10,000 Journeys Milestone
HimRide celebrates 10,000 completed journeys with a community feast in McLeod Ganj for all drivers, staff and local partners. The website launches for the first time, with online booking.
2025

Today HimRide has 25+ drivers, a fleet of 20+ vehicles and covers all of Himachal Pradesh and beyond. We're still based in McLeod Ganj, still family-run, still driven by the same passion from Day 1.
